Car history: |
Here is a very unique and desirable, 1969 Corvette Roadster that will need some restoration work, but is a very legitimate and unmolested Corvette! It has its original numbers matching engine and transmission and is still painted its original and appealing Fathom Green color with matching Dk Green interior. The original build sheet is still attached to the top of the gas tank! The prior owner purchased it approx. 10 years ago and started some of the restoration only to give up due to a lack of interest, time and money. It has been in Arizona here for at least the past 20+ years. The list of options as it is currently equipped is as follows: 300hp 350 cu in Engine - #'s Match, 4-Spd Manual Transmission - #'s Match, Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, Power Windows, Rally Wheels, P235/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial TA Tires, Pioneer Premier Removable Face AM FM CD Stereo & 6 Disc CD Changer, Luggage Rack, Engine Casting # - 3932386, Engine Casting Date - J118, Engine Pad Stamping - 19S705466-V1018HY, Transmission Case Stamping - 19S705466, Odometer Reading - 10,601 - (probably 110,601). Other than the obvious damage to the right rear quarter panel due to a wheel coming off sometime in the past, the body appears to otherwise have no prior damage history and appears to be all original. The front clip is original and never replaced. It's never had any wheel well flares or customizing done to the body and it has always been this original Fathom Green color. An old carburetor flare up in the past singed the paint on the hood but didn't appear to hurt the hood itself. In the interest of full disclosure, the side frame rails will need a couple rusty areas repaired and some old repairs corrected. This appears to be more a cosmetic than a structural issue and could be left alone as a driver or addressed correctly during a body off restoration. You can always fix any flaw, but a car is only original and numbers matching once and they're getting harder and harder to find! The car is very complete with all the grills, bumpers, trim and front spoiler still in place. The original trunk rack is included as well as, what looks like, the original rally wheels. The interior is very respectable and clean and very useable as is. The seats are quite nice with very little wear and the door panels are nice with no cracks in the armrests. The carpeting is new as are the rear compartment doors and trim. The dash pad and the dash pods are in beautiful condition and the gauges are clean and bright. With the exception of the tachometer and clock, all the gauges appear to work as they should as well as the wipers, courtesy lights and horn! The blower motor is inoperative and the wiper lid opens but doesn't close by itself. The headlight doors work well with one a little slower than the other. The power windows both work great! The radio is an after market Pioneer Premiere removable face AM FM CD Stereo with a 6 disc CD changer in the back and it sounds great! This is a super nice, driver quality interior! The convertible top frame is in good condition and just needs a new top installed. Purchased by the prior owner and included with the car are $1,500 worth of new interior components from Corvette America to include new seat covers, new door panels, new inside windshield frame trim, new carpeting (already installed) and new sun visors and brackets; all in the correct Dk Green vinyl color. Also included are the 1969 Corvette Assembly Manual and assorted restoration books and tapes to aid in the correct restoration of this desirable Vette! Mechanically, this little Corvette is actually in very good condition and is a very nice running and driving car! The engine was reported to have been totally rebuilt before the prior owner bought it and it is evident that it has been out at some time and it runs great! There is some old gas that needs to be run out of it but it runs strong and smooth. The transmission shifts as it should and the synchros are smooth when down shifting. It still has its original 4-spd shifter in place. 3 of the 4 disc brake calipers are new as are the BF Goodrich Radial TA tires. The right rear axle and bearings are new and the rear end is quiet. The dual exhaust is in good shape and the car handles on the road quite well. To drive the car as is, I don't think you would need to do much except possibly install a new accelerator pump in the carburetor from sitting the past 10 years. It would be an easy cosmetic restoration or well worthy of a total, body off restoration. 10,601 miles from the odometer. Odometer may been changed. Color codes from the trim plate. Built date is C22. Motor suffix code is V1018HY. April 4, 2010. |
